The final line-up has been announced for a special BBC celebration of seminal heavy metal band Black Sabbath.
BBC Radio WM celebration Metal in the Midlands will take place at Birmingham Town Hall on 2 July, ahead of the legendary band’s final gig on 5 July at Villa Park, another home town venue.
Hard rock act Defects will headline the Town Hall show, featuring alongside Black Parade and Download DJ Em Masters, with a Flatpack Festival short film compilation also part of the bill.
Acts Cherrydead, Gans and Meatdripper were previously revealed.
Harry Jennings, drummer for Defects, also a Birmingham act, said: “We are beyond excited to be one of the bands representing metal in the Midlands for the BBC on this iconic week.”
He added: “The Town Hall holds a lot of memories for family members of the band, and it’s a real honour to perform.”
Birmingham will welcome up to 41,000 heavy metal fans as the original Black Sabbath line-up comes together for the first time in 20 years on 5 July.
Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler will reunite live on stage for an historic final show, Back to the Beginning.
The Birmingham Town Hall event will be hosted by Black Country-born comedian and BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio WM presenter Darren Harriott, a metal fan.
The short film compilation will explore metal’s international reach.
